The Acura MDX combines most of the virtues of the SUV genre and diminishes or eliminates most of its vices. While it's not perfect, it's more versatile than five-passenger luxury SUVs such as the Lexus RX 330, BMW X5 or Mercedes ML, and it retails for thousands less than comparably equipped, seven-passenger competitors such as the Volvo XC90 and Cadillac SRX.
